A Heart That is Cleansed
When He shed His perfect blood for us at the cross, the Lamb, our Saviour Jesus Christ paid for our sins once and for all. But that does not mean we do not grieve the Holy Spirit when we sin. In Psalm 51, David cries out to God after he realizes the evil of his transgressions of adultery and murder, and through his sorrow and pain, we see how merciful our Lord is when He is faced with a heart of true confession.
Present yourselves to God P2
Salvation frees us from the penalty of sin but the presence of sin is still a reality and a constant battle for all Christ-followers. If no longer enslaved to sin and freed from its power, we are to behave as those who are free. In today’s text, the Lord commands us to ‘let not’ sin reign in our bodies. This means following the path of obedience and actively engaging in the ongoing fight against sin by making choices that honour God. We are temples of the Holy Spirit, purchased by the blood of Christ and called to be holy!

The Dependence of David P2
When we last met David in this, our study of his life, he was in the midst of a trial few of us could imagine. Yet, even as we’re about to accept his demise, David yet again turns to the Lord in prayer and in praise. His heart is filled with dependence on his one and only God, which flows into worship and reverential awe. How can we mirror David’s example when we’re in our darkest hour?
